Frequently Asked Questions

Tell us about your photography career?

When I was a teenager, my parents gave me my grandfather’s SLR camera and I was instantly smitten! A hobby soon became a passion and  I spent countless hours processing and developing all my bw images the old fashioned way in the darkroom. After attending University of British Columbia and graduating with a fine arts degree, I came to Hong Kong to work as a full-time in-house photographer at Cathay Pacific. After a few years, I decided to go freelance,  photographing weddings, events and portraits. We have been in business for almost ten years now, expanded our team of main photographers, assistant photographers, digital artists and image consultants, and our boutique studio has developed a strong reputation worldwide.

Daniel, my husband, decided to pursue his love for photography full-time in 2009. It seemed a very natural decision, since his camera has always been a vital piece of his daily wardrobe for the last 25 years and he has always had a creative eye and a great sense of composition!  In the last 9 years of being together, Daniel and I would attend master photography classes together in US, Italy and Australia, learning from some of the top international wedding and portrait photographers in the field. Now we run the business together, simply named ‘Rosa & Daniel Photography’. We feel blessed that we can spend quality time with our baby daughter, and live our dream as a husband and wife photography team.

What photography services do your team offer?

Our forte is wedding photography, family and pregnancy portraiture, and corporate headshots. We also shoot birthday parties, full moon parties, and anniversaries. Currently we have 3 main photographers: Rosa, Daniel and Vincent, and a number of assistant photographers: Tony and Robert. Together, we have photographed well over 500 weddings and even more family portrait sittings.

How would you describe your photography style and products?

Expression and emotion are important elements in our imagery. We want our images to tell a story and to strike a chord with the viewer. Our specialty products are archival, fine art based. The images are created as heirlooms and are intended to be passed down the generations which is why we only use the finest quality materials. In helping our wedding couples, it gives us great pleasure to know that we are creating lasting images that will become part of a family’s history. Often our brides and grooms return to us as moms and dads and it is an honour for us to capture the growth of their families.

What are your rates and what kind of packages do you offer?

Please send us an email via our website or at info@rosaanddaniel.com, and we can check our availability and share with you our rates and packages. For weddings, if you can provide us with a brief overview of your wedding, such as your wedding date and a basic rundown, we can create a quotation for you. For family portraits, we sometimes have promotional offers.

How much should I budget for wedding photography?

Photography expenditure should fall roughly between 10-15 percent of the entire wedding budget. This is a figure widely acknowledged within the wedding industry. Your photos will be one of the only tangible reminders of your wedding day and an important family heirloom.
